A flow number is incomplete without test pressure
A shower head advertised at 1.8 GPM or 6.8 L/min is not fully specified unless the test pressure and method are known. The same product can deliver a different flow in a high-rise, a low-pressure villa, or a system with restrictive valves and pipework. Ask for a flow curve or test results at several dynamic inlet pressures rather than one headline number.
Separate water saving from acceptable spray
Lower flow does not automatically mean better efficiency if guests compensate with longer showers or complain about poor rinsing. During sample review, evaluate spray coverage, droplet feel, temperature stability, noise, and performance at the lowest expected pressure. Test the complete combination of valve, hose, hand shower, and overhead head where applicable.
Confirm the exact model covered by evidence
Market requirements differ, and a certificate held by a factory does not necessarily cover every shower head. Match the model number, flow controller, component configuration, and factory shown in the evidence to the product being purchased. If a flow regulator changes, determine whether the listing or declared performance also needs review.
Consider maintenance in hard-water locations
Mineral deposits can narrow nozzles and alter the spray pattern. Specify cleanable silicone jets, accessible flow controls, and approved descaling instructions. A hotel should test how quickly housekeeping can clean the head without damaging the finish. Replacement nozzles or complete heads may be more practical than aggressive chemical cleaning in some locations.
Write acceptance criteria into the order
The purchase specification should state rated flow, test pressure, permitted tolerance, spray functions, connection thread, finish reference, and packaging labels. Inspection samples should be tested with calibrated equipment. This turns “water saving”from a marketing phrase into a condition that can be verified before shipment.
